Asia Meets Styria at Thermenhof Paierl in Bad Waltersdorf

For many years ancient  Asian knowledge about health is a fundamental part of the generous offer at Thermenhof Paierl in Bad Waltersdorf  as well as the healing thermal springs and the internalization of the Styrian formula for a sense of well being.  The 4-star-superior hotel with its ambient atmosphere plays the lead role in providing Ayurvedic medicine therapy and Asian kinetics- & relaxation treatments. The Styrian mentality can be seen as the contrasting part to the Far Eastern medicine and is represented in the friendly and relaxed atmosphere and the fine food. This rich mixture is significant for this luxury hotel and marks its individuality which is also incorporated in the partly Stryian, partly Asian interior design.

Lead role in modern hotel business since 1998
For more than 20 years Thermenhof Paierl has taken the leading part in modern hotel sector. Since the grand opening in 1988 this luxury hotel with its ambient atmosphere has constantly enhanced its status and has established an international reputation as an excellent health resort and award-winning gourmet hotel. This success is not only the result of being a peaceful place with a harmonious blend of traditional Asian influences and modern Styrian décor, but is also achieved by the professional staff, who create a relaxing and warm atmosphere and make the guests feel comfortable and at ease.

Paierl’s seven pillars of well-being
The guests of Thermenhof Paierl are amazed by a rich variety of ideas, suggestions, tips and offers to increase the holistic well-being of body, mind and soul. In order to experience this feeling the guests are invited to indulge themselves in the in-house thermal springs and draw vitalising strength from bathing in three different pools filled with thermal water. This treatment forms just the basis of a wide range of therapies which are named “the seven pillars of well-being” and which can be combined individually in the course of a stay at Thermenhof Paierl.

1.    Wellness centre
Guest are invited to indulge themselves in a thermal swimming-pool (32°C) with a channel to reach the outdoor panorama pool (32°C), both filled with hydrogen carbonate – chloride – thermal water, and a year-round heated swimming-pool (28°C) with bathing lawn. The lounge gallery (with refreshment drinks) together with the heat bench in front of the swimming pool (39°C) round the wellness area off.

2.    Thermal spa
The palatial thermal spa area consists of three different saunas, the mineralized steam bath (45°C), the Styrian sweat chamber (65°C), which is a bio-sauna with 70% air humidity and herbal scent and the Celtic sauna “Lautrum” (90°C) as well as of the thermal exercise basin (36°C)and the Celtic garden and nude sunbathing terrace. Special attention should be devoted to the “Lautrum”, which can be seen as a resurrection of Celtic traditions concerning the usage of healing warmth. The Celts believed in a high spiritual power of fire and water and Celtic legends describe the wondrous healing effect of warmth, heat and steaming water. Even the décor is based on Celtic culture due to the fact that blockhouses consisting of rods and stone walls were the common accommodation in ancient Western Europe.

3.    “Realm of the senses” – a paradise for all the five natural powers
Specifically designed treatment rooms with their individuality, scents, colours and sounds are highly valuable in order to take moments of time out, satisfy personal needs, experience fun and joy and to discover individual sources with all senses.  A rich variety of therapies, including beauty treatments, massages, Asiatic- and especially Ayurvedic medicine, accelerates the revitalising processes. The Shiva-Ayurveda Centre, for example, is a project for stressed and nervous people, who want to improve their efficiencies and abilities. All features are all supervised by a medical direction. Other highlights of the “Realm of the senses” are the Japanese bath with lotus blossoms, the rest- and relaxation room “Lapislazuli”, the oriental bath “Aquamarin”, which is a long, hot and stimulating bath for two with a variety of bath essences, such as herbs, mare’s-milk, or algae.
Minerals from all over the world - vital tesserae which are responsible for our well-being, such as charoit, amber, emerald and calcite as well as green fluorite, can be found in our “Realm of the senses”.
In order to be able to feel the desired effect after enjoying a treatment our guests are invited to indulge themselves in our Japanese rest area and our Japanese Zen garden with tea house. The great attention to detail of this garden enhances the aura of authenticity and encourages the guest to immerse into the Far Eastern world.

1.    Exercise  and relaxation area
During the whole day the sun floods our spacious cardio fitness area equipped with modern exercise- and cardio machines. Additionally, we provide training programmes, but also relaxation sessions for our guests every day.

2.    Culinary delights at Thermenhof Paierl
Executive chef Roland Neubauer and his team amaze and pamper our guests by creating specialities based on “Naturküche”, traditional Styrian recipes, or Asian cuisine. For Roland Neubauer using fresh ingredients is obvious as well as creating light delicacies, which enhance the own flavour. It is understood that we prefer wholesome nutrition from local farmers.
Additionally, our Dip sommelier Valentin Zsifkovits is looking forward to making recommendations for exquisite wines. We share our passion for excellent wines and perfect service. In fact, wine is ambivalent. Due to its manifold variety and its richness of different expressions wine can be seen as a harmonic beverage when enjoying a delicious meal. No matter whether enjoyed to regional delicacies or to specialities, wine will ennoble every meal.

1.    Our hotel rooms as havens of tranquillity
It was worth the effort to invest in generous design, take care and pay attention to detail and equally uphold the special ambiance of the hotel. Our rooms have been designed in two contrary styles: traditional and Asian. The latter one conveys Japanese home décor, provides a separate Zen-garden and consists of two different room types: “Wabi” (35m2), which means solitary beauty, and “Sabi” (45m2), which means venerable simplicity.

2.    Landscape of Eastern Styria – beauty created by man and nature
Embedded in the middle of the beautiful landscape of Eastern Styria with its thermal springs the Thermenhof Paierl can be surveyed. For your individual trip around the countryside we would like to offer our guests mountain- and trekking bikes for free. Added to this, the costs for the room also include the tennis court fee for an hour per day. Next, the 18-hole golf course near the hotel is ideal for both beginners and more accomplished players. As the founder of this golf course, we would like to provide a discount of 25% for our guests.
