Ayurveda Resort Sonnhof

Centre for European Ayurveda

Tyrol meets India

In one of the most stunning locations of the Alps

'I feel good'

is our maxim – it symbolises everything we do!

Ayurveda Resort Sonnhof

This centre for European Ayurveda is located in one of the most stunning locations of the Alps - on the high plateau of the Thiersee Valley at 900m above sea level. A place of unique harmony and wellbeing, the Ayurveda Resort Sonnhof nestles in a paradise of nature, where it gently and carefully integrates the philosophy of Ayurveda within a European sensibility.

Here, in the heart of the Tyrolean Alps, guests experience the holistic power of Ayurvedic philosophy without the need for long-haul travel to the Indian subcontinent - the birthplace of Ayurveda. Our Ayurveda specialists from India - Gaurav Sharma and Chef de Cuisine Balvinder Walia - work closely with Dr Alaettin Sinop - a GP and specialist in naturopathic medicine - to ensure that you are looked after with competence and professionalism, whilst at the same time promoting a deeper understanding between east and west.

The Ayurveda Resort Sonnhof in Austria offers a comprehensive programme that includes short AyurDetox breaks, intensive detoxification programmes, rejuvenation weeks and Rasayana treatments. However, the queen of Ayurvedic treatments is Panchakarma: a two-part therapy plan that includes preparation as well as the principal treatment. An interesting range of skills and expertise also characterises the Ayurveda Resort's Yoga programmes.

Our guests discover that the holistic philosophy of Yoga is much more than merely an effective body workout - like Ayurveda, Yoga affects the psyche as well as the body. The Sonnhof Signature 'European Ayurvedic cuisine' is an integral component of treatment with Ayurvedic principles upheld and recipes prepared using highest quality, fresh & regional produce from our own farm as well as neighbouring farms and markets. Ayurveda means 'knowledge of life' and our AyurvedaCentre is designed to live up to this ideal: facilities include three themed saunas (detoxifying steam bath, herbal clay sauna & gemstone therapy) in harmony with Ayurvedic principles Kapha, Pitta & Vata, Moon Sauna, Sun Sauna, infrared cabins, sauna landscape, Shakti fitness room, Swasthya peace room, OM meditation room, Ayurveda lounge and panoramic indoor pool with spectacular mountain views and direct access to the Shiva Shakti energy garden and energy fountain.

The Ayurveda Resort Sonnhof in Tyrol reopened in June 2012 following a programme of refurbishment and extension. Our design concept is based on the idea: 'Tyrol meets India'. Local timber, some of which was upcycled from ancient hay barns, and high-quality materials create a harmonious synergy with vibrant, Indian colour schemes. Exquisite handcrafted sculptures of Buddha, and elements of creative decor define the ambience. The influence of the subcontinent is evident in our new suites as well as the refurbished accommodation.

The entire resort was designed based on the Vastu Shastra system of architecture to maximise the positive flow of energy.
