Harivihar means abode of the divine, and the 170-year-old restored royal homestead in Calicut that bears this name has earned it through twenty years of practice rather than intention. With just five rooms, Green Leaf accreditation from the Government of Kerala for authentic Ayurveda, and two post-graduate doctors present daily as hosts, this is among the most genuinely intimate Ayurveda experiences in India. Guests arrive as visitors and leave writing of family.

Harivihar Heritage Homestead
Intro A 170-year-old royal manor in Calicut, Kerala, painstakingly restored and run by two doctors as a living homestead where Ayurveda is practised with the same seriousness as it is offered. Five rooms. No pretence. The highest government accreditation for authentic Ayurveda in Kerala.
About
Harivihar sits in the historic Malabar province of North Kerala, in Calicut, one of the oldest and most culturally layered cities in the state. The house itself is over 170 years old, restored with deep care for its heritage character, and has been operating as an Ayurveda homestead since 2003. Hosts Dr. Srikumar and Dr. Neetha Srikumar are both post-graduate doctors who interact with guests daily, assist with treatment planning, and bring to the experience the rare combination of medical rigour and genuine warmth that defines this place. The Green Leaf accreditation, the highest honour from the Government of Kerala for authentic Ayurveda, is significant: it is only awarded to centres that meet the strictest standards of treatment authenticity, physician qualification, and herbal preparation. With only five rooms, guests are never lost in a facility. They are received into a household, with the rhythms, the birdsong, the food, and the human presence that a household carries.
All Ayurveda programmes begin with a dosha analysis and personal consultation with the resident doctors, who prescribe an individual treatment plan. Rejuvenative and curative programmes are available from 3 to 21 days, covering general detoxification, immunity and vitality, and condition-specific treatments including arthritis, low back pain, obesity, stress, anxiety, and headaches. Panchakarma is offered with full medical supervision. Yoga with Gopalji runs daily from 7:00 to 8:30 a.m. Short stays of two nights or more are welcomed for guests not on Ayurveda programmes who wish to experience the heritage atmosphere of Malabar and explore Calicut. North Kerala day tours and excursions can be arranged.
