A small island with a disproportionate density of serious Ayurvedic retreats. Quieter than India, more focused, and often surprisingly profound.
Sri Lanka carries Ayurveda differently to India. Quieter, more concentrated, less diluted by mass tourism. The south coast — from Bentota to Dikwella to Talalla — has become one of the world’s most significant Ayurvedic destinations, not through marketing but through the quality of its practitioners and the seriousness of its programmes. The properties we select here are not beach hotels with Ayurvedic menus. They are places where the tradition is practiced with genuine depth.
Sri Lanka’s south coast is where the most serious Ayurvedic practice is concentrated — and where the variation in quality is also greatest. A genuine Ayurvedic retreat here will have qualified Ayurvedic doctors, programme structures based on individual diagnosis, and a minimum stay of seven days. Properties that offer Ayurvedic treatments as a spa menu rather than a medical programme are not what we select. The difference is always visible from the first conversation with the property.

For Healing Properties
HealingGuide is a curated guide, not a directory. We do not list every place that applies. We select the places that belong.
